Herrin sweeps individual, team titles at Carbondale Girls Bowling Regional

CARTERVILLE — Led by sophomore Sidnee Nelson, the Herrin Lady Tigers swept the top three individual spots on the way to making it back to back girls bowling regional titles.

Herrin finished with 5488 pins on the day, 324 more than runner up Anna-Jonesboro. Mt. Vernon (4724) and Carbondale (4518) also advance as teams to the Carterville Sectional, which will be right back at SI Bowl.

Nelson finished with 1216 pins, which was 56 pins better than senior teammate Faith Perry-Foster and 78 better than another senior teammate, Madyson LaBotte.

Anna Jonesboro’s Grace Mowell and Carterville’s Adriana Bird tied for fourth with 1114 pins.

Bird advances as an individual along with teammate Cheyenne Cockrum (894), Steeleville’s Piper Stofel (1109) and Isabella Middendorf (1096), Harrisburg’s Karol Simmons (1085), Massac County’s Sydnee Hicks (979) and Zoey Fraser (913), Webber’s Stacie Bullard (956), and Trico teammates Addy McClaine (945) and Tessa Nehrt (873).
