Area wrestlers earn trips to the state tournament

VANDALIA — The tickets have been punch–next stop, the State Tournament in Champaign. 56 individuals advance from four different sectionals in each class.

Led by sectional champions Harrisburg’s Tony Keene (126), defending state champ Mason Tieffel from Benton (138), Murphysboro’s Bryce Edwards (144) and Liam Fox (157), Herrin’s Blue Bishop (150), and Johnston City’s Jude Beers (215), 15 area individuals earned trips to state from the Vandalia 1A Sectional.

Other individual advancers include Murphysboro’s Kanton Richards (106), Benton’s Cohen Sweely (113), Anna-Jonesboro’s Drew Sadler (120) and Daniel Dover (138), Fairfield’s Scotty Cuff (144), West Frankfort’s Lucas Parker (144), Conner Henson (190), and Brandon Turner (215), as well as Carmi-White County’s Nelson Rider (215).
