Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Prime Time Performer nominees

Voting is open and will run through midnight Sunday for the next Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performer.

Here are the nominees for April 21-26:

Cade Allen, Carmi-White Co.: The senior was 3-3 with a home run and 7 RBIs in a win over Eldorado. For the week, Allen was 4-7 with 2 doubles, a home run, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored helping the Bulldogs go 2-1 for the week.

Colbie Bennett, Carterville: The junior was 5-7 with a double, triple, home run, 2 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. Bennett was on base 8 times in 10 at bats helping the Lady Lions go 3-0 for the week.

Drake Buffington, Goreville: The senior tossed a 5-inning, 1-hit shutout, striking out 10 and also hit a pair of 3-run home runs in a win over ZRC. For the week, Buffington was 3-6 with 3 walks, 2 home runs, and 6 RBIs helping the Blackcats go 2-1.

Connor DeWeerdt, ZRC: The senior was 7-12 with a double, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored at the plate and was 1-0 on the mound, giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits while striking out 9 in a complete game win over Goreville helping the Tornadoes go 3-1 for the week.

Izzy Doerr, Murphysboro: The junior scored 12 goals and added an assist to help the Red Devils go 3-0-1 for the week. Doerr scored 5 goals in a win over Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden and 4 goals in a win over Harrisburg.

Kaylee King, Harrisburg: The senior won the shot put (36’) and the discus (127’) at the Don Webb Invitational in Benton. King then won the discus (127’ 10”) at the Carmi-White County Invitational.

Zach Maurer, Massac Co.: The junior was 4-9 and on base 7 times with a double, 2 RBIs, 2 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored at the plate. Maurer also tossed a 4-hit shutout in a win over Herrin as the Patriots went 2-1 for the week.

Carson Murrah, Johnston City: The junior won the shot put (49’0.5”) and the discus (166’ 3”) at the Hamilton County Foxes Invitational.

Kamaree Pollard, Mt. Vernon: The senior won the 100 meters (12.27), 200 meters (25.19), 400 meters (58.73), at Mascoutah’s Carol Schneider Invitational.

Owen Rann, Harrisburg: The senior was 10-21 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 3 stolen bases, and 12 RBIs helping the Bulldogs go 4-1 for the week.

Sara Schurz, Carbondale: The sophomore scores 11 goals and added 3 assists to help the Terriers go 2-1 for the week. Schurz scored 5 goals in wins over Vienna/Goreville and Mt. Vernon.

Brenna Stearns, Marion: The senior won the 100 meter hurdles (16.27), the 300 meter hurdles (45.89) and ran a leg on the winning 4×100 meter relay (49.88) at Benton’s Don Webb Invitational. Stearns finished 2nd in 300 hurdles (45.52) at Mascoutah’s Carol Schneider Invitational.
