
Voting is open and will run through midnight Monday for the next Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performer.
Here are the nominees for May 5-10:
Maddy Francois, Centralia: The senior was 2-0 allowing 2 runs on 9 hits in 15 innings of work while striking out 24.
Makayla Gajewski, Nashville: The sophomore set conference records in both the shot put (41’7”) and the discus (123’5”) at the SIRR Mississippi meet. Gajewski also hit 2 home runs in the Hornettes’ win over Breese Central.
Tyjaire Kellum, Murphysboro: The senior set a new meet record winning the 100 meters (10.74) at the Du Quoin Classic. Kellum also won the 200 meters (22.05), was a part of the winning 4×100 relay (43.5), and finished 3rd in the long jump (19’8.25”).
Cale Maurer, Mt. Vernon: The senior tossed a 3-hit shutout and struck out 14 in a win over Centralia. For the week, Maurer was 3-9 at the plate as well with an RBI.
Gabe McLain, Benton: The senior set a meet record in winning the 800 meters (1:53.19) at the Chuck Oyler Invitational, where he was also a part of the winning 4×400 relay (3:35.20). McLain then won the 1600 meters (4:23.04) the next day at the Harrisburg Invitational.
Brandon Menser, Waltonville/Sesser-Valier: The senior tossed a 1-hit shutout and struck out 17 in a win over Woodlawn in the MTC Tournament championship game. Menser was 2-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI.
Corinne Mueller, Steeleville: The freshman was 2-1 for the week allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits over 16 innings while striking out 27. Mueller tossed a 3-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts in a win over Valmeyer. At the plate, she was 2-6 with a home run, 4RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Jayci Needling, Anna-Jonesboro: The junior was 8-15 with 2 doubles, a triple, 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored helping the Lady Wildcats go 4-0 for the week.
Noah Nix, Salem: The senior was 1-0 on the mound, allowing an earned run on 7 hits over 6 innings while striking out 8. Nix was 3-0 at the plate for the week with 6 RBIs.
Issy Phillips, Du Quoin: The senior set the conference record in winning the 300 meter hurdles (46.88) at the SIRR Mississippi meet. Phillips also scored 4 goals to help lead the Lady Indians past Massac County for the first soccer win in program history.
Molly Robertson, Carterville: The senior won the 800 meters (2:20.01), the 1600 meters (5:24.32) and the 3200 meters (12:00.10) at the SIRR Ohio meet.
Maddux Smothers, Harrisburg: The sophomore was 3-9 and was on base 8 times in 15 at bats with 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored at the plate for the week and tossed 3.2 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 6 in a win over Benton.
Emily Vaughan, Fairfield: The sophomore won the 100 meter hurdles (17.53), the 300 meter hurdles (49.14), the long jump (15’9”) and was a member of the winning 4×100 relay (52.58) at the Black Diamond Championships.
