WEST FRANKFORT — Canaan Shupe broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth helping West Frankfort score three in the inning on the way to a 4-1 win over Eldorado in a quarterfinal game from the Massac County 2A Regional.
The win didn’t come without some anxious moments in the seventh, as the Eagles loaded the bases with two outs, but Redbirds reliever Chace Patterson got Nolan Rilying to fly out to right to end the game.
West Frankfort advances to meet the top-seeded and host Patriots Wednesday in the first semifinal.
