Congratulations to Nashville’s Emma Behrmann and Marion’s Emma Skeate, our Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performers for May 19-24.
Both Emmas won state titles at the Girls State Track and Field Finals in Charleston.
Behrmann won the 1A triple jump with a leap of 37’5.25”. The Hornettes’ junior also medaled in three other events: finishing sixth earlier in the day in the long jump (17’3.75”) and finishing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (15.08) and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles (45.99) later on the track. Behrmann’s performance helped Nashville finish fifth as a team.
Skeate also brought home a state championship. The Lady Wildcats’ freshman won the 2A shot put with a throw of 38’ 2”, winning by 5.5 inches.
