JOHNSTON CITY — Jace Weaver and Marcus Leitzen each ran for two touchdowns, and Kaden Koenig tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Wyatt Henderson leading Johnston City to a 46-8 season-opening win over Carmi-White County, making Marshall Mummert a winner in his Indians’ head coaching debut.
The Indians built a 38-0 lead at the half then Leitzen’s second TD of the night triggered the running clock in the third quarter.
Johnston City will host Christopher/Zeigler-Royalton/Elverado, while Carmi-White County will travel to Flora week two. Both games will be Friday night.
