CHARLESTON — The Carterville Lions made the trek to Charleston and throttled the Trojans 49-13 to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
Carter Jones got the scoring started with a 17-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Andy Johnson accounted for three Lions’ touchdowns–two through the air and another on the ground with Johnny Miller adding a pair of rushing touchdowns. Drake Capie’s fouth quarter interception return touchdown triggered the running clock and finished off the scoring.
Carterville will be back on the road next week with a much shorter trip, as the Lions will travel to Herrin in the SIRR Ohio opener for both teams.
