Redbirds rally past Chester in battle of unbeatens

WEST FRANKFORT — Lucas Parker’s 5-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left helped West Frankfort erase a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to beat Chester 33-29.

It was Parker’s fourth rushing TD of the night. He then clinched the Redbirds’ victory by intercepting Tray Peter’s pass in West Frankfort territory in the closing seconds.

The Redbirds improve to 3-0. They will open SIRR Mississippi play next Friday at Pinckneyville. The Yellow Jackets fall to 2-1. They will open play in the Cahokia Illinois next Friday at Sparta/Steeleville.
