MURPHYSBORO — The Murphysboro Red Devils used a big second half to knock off Massac County 35-21 in the SIRR Ohio opener for both teams.
The Patriots led 14-7 at the half, but the Red Devils scored three times in the third quarter to seize control with a 28-14 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
Freshman Kegan Shields led the Murphysboro attack finishing with three touchdowns on the night–two rushing and one receiving.
Both teams are now 2-2. Next week, Murphysboro will visit Herrin while Massac County will host Harrisburg.
