John A. Logan College Little Egypt Football Week 5 Poll: Carterville moves up in aftermath of Benton-Du Quoin brawl in Week 4

The clash between Benton and Du Quoin was as billed in Week 4.  The pair collided and a tight 17-7 victory for Benton was the result.  Benton remains the #1 team in the John A. Logan College Little Egypt Football Poll as a result and Du Quoin only slips to #3.

Carterville improved to #2 following a 42-0 beatdown of the Herrin Tigers to open conference action in the SIRR Ohio.

The Marion Wildcats went to defending 1A state champs Belleville Althoff and blasted the Crusaders 56-24 to rise to #4.

The Johnston City Indians were held under 45 points for the first time this season in a 36-6 win over Eldorado.  The Tribe still remains in the Top 5 at #5, dropping a spot from Week 4.

The Nashville Hornets remained unfettered in a 57-14 victory over Anna-Jonesboro in Week 4.  They remain at #6.

A tie at the #7 spot is intriguing folks around the region.

Centralia remains at #7 following a 42-6 win at Granite City.  Meanwhile, the West Frankfort Redbirds still are undefeated after winning a defense-optional style game at Pinckneyville 64-31.  The Redbirds rise a place into the tie for #7.

The Chester Yellow Jackets weathered a lightning delay and shutout Sparta 27-0 in Week 4.  They rise to #9.

The Fairfield Mules suffered a 34-22 loss at home to Sesser-Valier but didn’t drop out of the rankings.  They fall from #9 to #10, garnering the most points out of the remaining teams with just six points.
