CARTERVILLE — Carterville made it a happy homecoming with a 39-0 win over Harrisburg. The Lions improve to 6-0 (2-0) on the season and clinch a playoff spot in the process.
Two of Johnny Miller’s three touchdowns on the night came in the first half to help Carterville take control. Gavin Johnson added a 27-yard field goal to help the Lions build an 18-0 lead at the half. Miller’s third TD came in the third quarter for a 25-0 lead. Andy Johnson added a touchdown run in the third and a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jamie Jones in the fourth for the game’s final score.
Carterville will welcome Massac County next week for Senior Night. Harrisburg falls to 2-4 (1-2). The Bulldogs will host Murphysboro next week.
