
Headed in to Week 7, the Centralia Orphans made the biggest leap in weeks on the John A. Logan College Little Egypt Football Poll.
The Orphans, led by sophomore quarterback Archie Goeway’s 360 passing yards and 7 touchdowns, dominated Marion in Week 6 55-28. That victory has catapulted the Orphans to #3 in the poll.
The Benton Rangers continued to show why they are believed to be the top team in the region, coming back from a 17-point deficit and winning over Nashville 34-24.
Carterville rolled up Harrisburg 39-0 to hold on to their #2 ranking.
Johnston City also remains unbeaten and unmoved at the #4 spot after a big 46-22 win over Fairfield that saw the Indians defense prevent any points from the Mules in the second half.
Du Quoin got the win at West Frankfort but struggled in the early going and had to come back to win in overtime, sinking from #3 to #5 this week.
Chester gets a dominant 42-21 win over Carlyle to improve to 5-1, they are the only 5-1 team not in the Top 5, the Yellow Jackets are #8.
Despite suffering a loss in Week 6, Murphysboro gets the nod at #10 this week after a 46-34 loss to Lift for Life (MO).
