MARION — Henry Thomas scored twice off free kicks from Huck Borrenpohl in the first nine minutes, and Carbondale never looked back, beating the host Wildcats 6-2 in the semifinals of the Marion 2A Boys Soccer Regional.
Freshman Aiden Davis also scored twice for Carbondale with Jackson Gray and Dylan Howard also finding the net for the Terriers in a six-goal first half explosion.
David Tallman and Myles Wiseman scored second half goals for Marion.
Carbondale improves to 18-1-1 on the season and advances to the regional championship match Saturday morning at 10:30 against top-seeded Althoff. The Crusaders blanked Centralia 8-0 in the other semifinal.
