MURPHYSBORO — After playing to 1-1 ties in each of their previous two meetings, Massac County beat Murphysboro 1-0 to win the Murphysboro Boys Soccer 1A Regional championship, the first soccer regional title in school history.
Alex Hall launched a missile into the net from 32 yards out for the game’s only goal. That’s Hall’s 43rd goal of the season.
Murphysboro had several scoring chances, but the Patriots’ defense anchored by keeper Arai Crim-Olds was up to the task.
Massac County improves to 19-2-2. The Patriots advance to the Father McGivney Sectional where they will face the hosts Tuesday at 5:00.
Murphysboro’s season comes to a close at 13-7-3.
