GOREVILLE — For the first time in six years the Goreville Invitational Tournament champion does not call Benton home.
The host Blackcats made sure of that, beating the Rangers 59-48 in the championship game. Benton had won the previous four GIT titles. The tournament was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Nick King led the Goreville attack with 20 points on his way to Tournament MVP honors. Zech Green added 14 and Tommy King 11 for the Blackcats.
Nolan Schafer led Benton with 16 with Drake Porter adding 15 and TJ Hamilton 14.
