John A. Logan women’s basketball stunned #6 Three Rivers Saturday afternoon with an 81-78 victory. Less than two weeks beforehand, the Lady Vols suffered a 50-point loss in Poplar Bluff to the Lady Raiders.
Led by 30 points from Kiera Whitaker and another 24 from Charolette DeLisle, the Lady Vols logged their first win over Three Rivers since December 12, 2017.
Metropolis native Brooklyn Burnett scored her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Newcomer and Goreville native Abby Compton played off the bench in her first game for the Lady Vols. She scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the win.
The victory moves the Lady Vols to 4-4 on the year. They host Vincennes in an important Region matchups on Wednesday night before opening conference play at Wabash Valley Saturday afternoon.
