CENTRALIA — The Centralia Orphans made it eight straight wins to open the season, throttling Mt. Vernon 57-39 in their South Seven opener.
Jaxson Hancock led four Orphans in double figures with 20 points. Archie Goewey added 12 with Kenny Bratton and Michael Organ scoring 11 each.
Dave Barnes led the Mt. Vernon attack with 15 points.
The loss was the first for the Rams, who fall to 4-1 (1-1).
