MATTOON — The Marion Wildcats ventured on the road for the first time this season, and while it was bit bumpy in spots, the ‘Cats made big plays down the stretch to win at Mattoon 69-62, improving to 5-0 on the season.
Despite leading by as many as 19 in the second quarter, the Wildcats found themselves trailing early in the fourth. Cam Curry came to the rescue. Curry’s 22 points and 11 rebounds led the Marion attack. Makhi House added 16 and Sam Adkins 12.
Marion will return home and return to South Seven play Friday night when Carbondale pays a visit to Cuss Wilson Gym.
