Marlow’s 37 helps Webber hand Woodlawn first loss of the season

BLUFORD — A battle between a pair of state-ranked 1A teams went to the ninth-ranked Webber Trojans, who downed previously unbeaten and number one Woodlawn 62-54.

Webber senior Nathaniel Marlow poured in a game high 37 points. That performance moved him up from 26th to 22nd on the IHSA’s all-time scoring list with 2609 career points. He is 35 points away from moving into the top 20.

Waylon Jones added 13 for the Trojans, who improve to 12-1, 2-0 in the Midland Trail.

The Cardinals, who fell to 14-1 (2-1), were led by Luke McKay’s 24 points, including 15 in the third quarter on five three-pointers. Kyle Cooper added 18.

Up next, another top 10 battle for Webber as the Trojans will visit fifth-ranked Waltonville Friday night. The Cardinals will be back in action Saturday night at Altamont.
