WALTONVILLE — With three teams in the top ten of the 1A state rankings, the battle for Midland Trail Conference supremacy has been appointment viewing.
Before Christmas, Woodlawn beat Waltonville 48-43. Earlier this week, Webber handed Woodlawn its first loss of the season, 62-54. Then Friday night, Waltonville beat Webber 67-60, leaving all three teams with one conference loss after all won their own home floors.
So who will get the top seed for the upcoming Midland Trail Conference Tournament? That’s TBD–to be determined.
The Spartans did their part. Witten Devor scored 23 points to lead the way for Waltonville, who also got 15 points each from Gage Peterson and Jagger Mayville. That helped overcome a 31-point night from Nathaniel Marlow for the Trojans.
With the win, Waltonville improves to 14-2, 3-1 in the MTC. Webber falls to 12-2, 2-1 in the conference.
