WOODLAWN — Two and a half weeks ago in Bluford, Webber handed Woodlawn its first loss of the season. The Cardinals returned the favor Thursday night, beating the Trojans 72-53 in the semifinals of the Midland Trail Conference Tournament.
Kyle Cooper led the Cardinals with 26 points. Luke McKay added 18 and Tyler Frick 16.
Woodlawn “held” Webber star Nathaniel Marlow to 24 points, well below his season average. Marlow now sits at 2797 points which is good for 15th on the IHSA list. Just ahead of him on the list are Patoka’s Jared Cain (#14–2817) and Archie Dees of Grayville (#13–2823).
Woodlawn advances to Saturday’s MTC title game to face Waltonville. This is the 95th and final MTC Tournament, as the league moves away from the tourney format starting in 2027.
The championship game originally scheduled for 2:00 has now been moved up to 11:00 AM. Red Hill and Wayne City (Consolation) along with Webber and Patoka/Odin (3rd Place) were both moved up to Friday night at 6:30 and 8:00.
