Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Prime Time Performer nominees

Voting is open and will run through midnight Sunday for our next Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performer.

Here are your nominees:

Kenny Bratton, Centralia: The sophomore was named MVP of the Salem Invitational after helping the Orphans go 3-0 to win the title. Bratton scored 20 points in the championship win over Mt. Vernon.

Samantha Brinkmann, Nashville: The junior was named MVP of the Highland Invitational after helping the Hornettes go 4-0 to win the title. 

Travin Elliott, Mt. Vernon: The senior took home medalist honors at the Mt. Vernon Boys Bowling Sectional knocking down 1414 pins, helping the Rams finish second as a team to qualify for state.

Bella Fasolo, Pope Co.: The senior was named MVP of the Shawnee/Cobden Lady Reds Midwinter Classic. Fasolo surpassed 1500 points during the championship game loss to Shawnee/Cobden.

DJ Hayes, Sparta: The sophomore was named MVP of the Sparta Midwinter Classic after helping the Bulldogs go 4-0 to win the title. Hayes scored 67 points to go with 18 rebounds, 12 assists and 8 steals in the 4 tournament games, including 19 points in the championship win over Pinckneyville. 

Matthew Howell, Cobden:  The senior was named MVP of the Zeigler-Royalton Midwinter Classic after helping the Appleknockers go 4-0 to win the title. Howell scored 29 points and surpassed 1000 career points in a win over Elverado.  

Jeremiah Jones, Du Quoin: The senior was named MVP of the Johnston City Arrowhead Classic after helping the Indians go 3-0 to win the title. Jones scored 21 points in a win over Anna-Jonesboro.

Carleigh Midgett, Marion: The sophomore was named MVP of the Carbondale Midwinter Classic after helping the Lady Wildcats go 3-0 to win the title. Midgett scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the semifinal win over Mt. Vernon. 

Lola Nussmeyer, Edwards Co.: The senior was named MVP of the Eldorado Lady Eagle Winter Classic after helping the Lady Lions go 3-0 to win the title. Nussmeyer scored 28 points in the semifinal win over Harrisburg. 

Quentin Osburn, West Frankfort: The senior was named to the All-Tournament Team of the West Frankfort Midwinter Classic after helping the Redbirds go 3-0 to win the title. Osburn scored 64 points to go with 14 rebounds, 10 assists, and 7 steals in 3 tournament games.

Gage Peterson, Waltonville: The senior was named MVP of the Midland Trail Conference Tournament after helping the Spartans go 3-0 to win the title. Peterson scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the quarterfinal win over Patoka/Odin and 23 points in the championship win over Woodlawn.

LaNiyah Shelby, Mt. Vernon: The sophomore was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Carbondale Midwinter Classic after helping the Lady Rams go 2-1 to finish third. Shelby scored 91 points in 3 tournament games including 33 to go with 10 rebounds in a win over Carterville.

Landon Sveda, Christopher: The senior was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Johnston City Arrowhead Classic after helping the Bearcats go 2-1 to finish second. Sveda scored 79 points to go with 10 assists and 9 rebounds in 3 tournament games.

Zevon Zimbro, Sesser-Valier/Waltonville: The junior was named MVP of the West Frankfort Girls Midwinter Classic after helping the Red Devils go 3-0 to win the title.
