Carterville takes over SIRR Ohio lead with win over Herrin

CARTERVILLE — The Carterville Lions took over sole possession of first place in the SIRR Ohio with a 74-57 win over Herrin.

Zach Snow led the Lions with 23 points. Maddox Gulley added 18 with Harper Lustenberger (13) and Colton Hawkins (11) also reaching double figures.

Jaxton Faulkenberry led the Tigers with 15.

Carterville improves to 21-2, 4-1 in the conference. Herrin falls to 13-8, 3-2 in the conference.

Up next, it’s the weather-delayed championship game of the Benton Invitational Tournament for Carterville. The Lions will face the host Rangers at 7:30 in a game that actually was already on the schedule, but because of the winter storm last Saturday, will now be the tournament title game.

The Tigers next action will be Tuesday night at Vienna.
