METROPOLIS — Led by 30 points from senior Myles Guthman, the Murphysboro Red Devils picked up an important SIRR Ohio road win at Massac County, 55-42.
It’s Guthman’s second straight offensive explosion, after pouring in 29 points in a loss to Freeburg in the third place game at the Sparta Midwinter Classic last Saturday.
With the win, the Red Devils improve to 15-7, 3-2 in the Ohio to remain a game behind conference-leading Carterville. The Patriots fall to 9-10, 2-3.
Up next, Murphysboro will meet Meridian at 2:00 Saturday at the Panther Showcase in Pincknevyille. Massac County’s scheduled Saturday game at Cairo has been canceled, so the Patriots’ next action will be Tuesday night at home against Hamilton County.
