CARTERVILLE — The Carterville Lions had already clinched a share of the SIRR Ohio championship. With Murphysboro coming to town having a chance to earn a share with a win, the Lions made sure there would be no sharing with a dominating 60-36 win on senior night.
The Lions 17-7 after one quarter and maintained the 10-point lead at halftime before blowing it open in the third to lead 50-29 heading to the fourth.
Maddux Gulley led the Lions with 22 points. Amereon Adams added 11 and Max Lustenberger 10 for Carterville, who improved to 27-3 and finished 7-1 in the Ohio.
The Red Devils fall to 19-10 and finish 5-3 in the conference.
Carterville will open play in the Massac County Regional Wednesday against the winner of Eldorado/West Frankfort. Murphysboro is headed to the Benton Regional. The Red Devils will face the winner of Harrisburg/Hamilton County.
