CARBONDALE — The Carbondale Terriers rebounded from a tough first half to take care of Triad 39-29, winning their own 3A regional–the program’s first regional championship since 2016.
With the win, Carbondale improved to 23-10 on the season, tying the school record for wins in a season.
A pair of seniors led the way for the Terriers, who were without sophomore guard Rylee McElveen, out due to injury. Dalia Roman scored 11 of her game high 16 points in the fourth quarter, while Alaiyah Penn held things down in the first half with nine of her 11 points.
Carbondale advances to the Waterloo 3A Sectional. The Terriers will face Chatham Glenwood Tuesday night at 6:00 in the first semifinal. Marion will take on Quincy Notre Dame in the second semifinal, with the winners to meet Thursday night for a sectional championship.
