ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Quel’Ron House earned his first Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week award after leading SIU to two historic victories over the weekend, the league announced Monday.
House led the Salukis to 2-0 sweep over Drake and Iowa this weekend, the first time SIU had beaten both teams in their home arenas in back-to-back games since 1995. Its win in Des Moines was the first since Feb. 1, 2020, and the win at Cedar Falls broke a streak that had lasted since Jan. 5, 2019. House averaged 18 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals per game over the two contests, including a big 21-point performance in Southern’s 59-57 win over UNI on Saturday night.
House is first on SIU averaging 15.0 points per game on the season, and leads the Dawgs into Wednesday night’s home finale against Indiana State. The Salukis will honor their five seniors prior to the game.
