Strong finish leads Christopher to regional title

JUNCTION — Trailing host Gallatin County by four late in the third quarter, Christopher senior Londynn Pontious buried a three-pointer which kickstarted a 10-0 run into the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Bearcats to a 44-36 win and a regional championship.

Pontious scored eight of her 10 points during that run, with the other basket by Tiara Sprague, who also tallied 10 for Christopher.

Gallatin County’s Hallie Holmes led all scorers with 13 points.

Christopher improves to 16-16, advancing to the Wayne City 1A Sectional where the Lady Bearcats will play Brownstown/St. Elmo Tuesday at 6:00 in the first semifinal.

Gallatin County finishes the season 15-13.
