BENTON — The Murphysboro Red Devils earned a spot in the Benton 2A Regional championship game against the host Rangers by holding off Hamilton County 46-39.
The Foxes jumped out to a 9-2 lead, but the Red Devils rallied to take a 20-18 lead at the half.
Murphysboro senior Myles Guthman led all scorers with 19, helping the Red Devils improve to 20-10 on the season. They will face Benton (24-6) in title game Friday night at 7:00. The Rangers took care of Vienna 59-34 in the first semifinal Wednesday night.
Matt Varney and Steve Webb will have the call of the championship game on 91.1 WDBX. Pregame will start at 6:45.
Hamilton County’s season comes to a close at 19-13.
