NASHVILLE — The Benton Rangers blitzed the Carterville Lions building a 31-10 lead by halftime and cruised to a 58-43 win to capture the Nashville 2A Sectional championship.
The Rangers led by 24 heading to the fourth. The Lions got as close as 11 in the fourth quarter before falling by 15.
Benton sophomore Drake Porter led all scorers with 29 points.
The Rangers improve to 28-6 and advance to the SIU Supersectional for the second time in three years where they will face 30-1 Quincy Notre Dame Monday night at 7:00.
The Lions finish 30-4.
