MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon is searching for new boys and girls head basketball coaches after the resignations of Tim Holloway and Jeff Lonnon. The school posted the jobs on social media Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams were 118-52 with three regional championships in Holloway’s six seasons as head basketball coach. Holloway had previously won 383 games in 17 seasons as the Rams’ head baseball coach from 2005-2022. He is a 1994 MVTHS alum and was inducted to the Rams’ Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
The Lady Rams were 257-219 with five regional championships and a sectional title in Lonnon’s 17 seasons as head coach. Lonnon has 424 career wins, having coached at Anna-Jonesboro, Edwards County, and Benton prior to coming to Mt. Vernon. He will be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame May 2.
