Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Prime Time Performer nominees

Voting is open and will run through midnight Sunday for our next Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in Mt. Vernon Prime Time Performer.

Here are your nominees for March 16-21:

Kansas Craig, Anna-Jonesboro: The senior was 13-21 with 4 doubles, a triple, a home run and drove in 9 to help the Lady Wildcats go 4-1 for the week. Craig also stole 5 bases.

Joseph Frierdich, Carbondale: The sophomore won both the shot put (50’6.25”) and the discus (176’9”) at Cape Notre Dame’s Frozen Invite. Frierdich’s winning throw in the discus was a new meet record.

Savannah Gibbs, Carterville: The senior went 4-9 with a triple and a home run, scored 5 runs and drove in 2 to help the Lady Lions go 3-0 for the week.
Essence Haynes, Elverado/Z-R: The junior was 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double, scored 2 runs and drove in 6 at the plate and tossed a complete game 3-hitter striking out 13 in a win over Shawnee.

Hunter Irvin, Benton: The senior was 6-14 with 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases, 2 runs scored and 4 RBIs to help the Rangers go 3-1 for the week. On the mound, Irvin was 1-0 in 2 appearances, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 6 in 7 innings of work.

Owen Kueker, Sparta: The sophomore threw a complete game, 4-hit shutout striking out 11 in a win over ZRC. At the plate, Kueker was 3-11 with a double, stolen base, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs helping the Bulldogs go 3-1 for the week.

Nora Lands, Harrisburg/Eldorado: The freshman scored 6 goals and added 3 assists to help the Lady Bulldogs go 3-0 for the week. Lands tallied hat tricks in wins over Vienna/Goreville and Carbondale.

Trevor McClure, Mt. Vernon: The junior was 4-6 with 2 walks and a double, and drove in 4 to help the Rams go 2-1 for the week.

Madalynn Mohr, Pinckneyville: The senior scored 2 goals and added an assist in the Panthers win over Du Quoin.

Aiden Pickles, Marion: The senior picked up the win pitching 3 perfect innings with 7 strikeouts on the mound and was 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs in a win over Murphysboro.

Sadie Popejoy, Nashville: The freshman picked up the win allowing a run on 4 hits while striking out 7 over 6 innings against Highland. At the plate, Popejoy had 3 hits including a double and drove in a run. 

Elyssa Schoenbaechler, Waltonville/Sesser-Valier: The junior tossed a complete game 5-hit shutout striking out 12 in a win over NCOE. At the plate, Schoenbaechler was 1-2 with 2 walks, 3 stolen bases and scored 3 runs.

Adam Taake, Century: The senior was 2-3 with 2 walks a home run, scored 3 runs and drove in 5 in a win over Carrier Mills/Stonefort.
