Thursday morning local stars Nathaniel Marlow and Gage Peterson announced commitments to Kaskaskia College men’s basketball.
Marlow climbed the IHSA All-Time scoring list throughout the past few seasons and reached the #2 spot by the end of his senior season in February when Webber fell to Altamont 68-58 in the Altamont 1A Regional Championship. Marlow finished his career with 3,272 career points – just 86 away from Tamms’ Chico Vaughn.
Peterson was the main cog at Waltonville this past season, reaching 2,000 career points in January. His Waltonville Spartans team fell to eventual state runner-up Goreville in the Trico 1A Sectional.
The pair team up at their local junior college Kaskaskia under the direction of longtime coach Brian Hancock. The Blue Devils were one of the top offensive teams in NJCAA Division I basketball this past season ranking 5th in field goal percentage (50.0%), 13th in field goals made per game (32.7), and 14th in three-point percentage (37.0%). The Blue Devils went 16-15 but ultimately lost to John A. Logan College 98-77 in the Region 24 quarterfinals.
