TROY — It will be an all-South Seven championship game at the Triad 3A Softball Sectional as Centralia and Marion both picked up semifinal wins.
The Annies shut out Richland County 4-0 behind a four-hit shutout from Maddy Francois. Francois struck out 14 on the day and also had a pair of RBI singles at the plate.
Kinsley Hawthorne had an RBI single and an RBI double, and Kaylee Bowdler added two hits and three runs scored.
Marion then beat Waterloo 3-1 in the second semifinal. Maecee Coleman’s tiebreaking two-run home run in the fifth inning was the difference, as Alana Bryant pitched a complete game six-hitter.
Centralia and Marion wound up co-conference champions after splitting in the regular season. The winner Friday afternoon will advance to Monday’s Decatur 3A Supersectional.
