John A. Logan College Little Egypt Football Week 2 Poll: Du Quoin leapfrogs to #2 following shutout dominance at Harrisburg

Following a complete game from the Du Quoin Indians at Harrisburg in Week 2, winning 41-0, the Indians leapfrogged their way from #4 up to #2 heading in to Week 3 of the high school football season.

The Benton Rangers put up another dominant outing against Robinson to retain the #1 ranking.  After winning over Robinson 63-0 in Week 2, the Rangers are outscoring opponents 132-0 this season.

Centralia remained steadfast at the #3 ranking after handling Collinsville 29-8, dropping the Kahoks to 0-2 for the first time since the Spring 2021 season.

Despite a 21-14 win over Nashville, the Carterville drop to #4 in the case of “odd man out” following Du Quoin’s jump to #2.

Johnston City rose back to #5 after a dominant 45-13 win over CZRE.  The Tribe heads on the road for the first time this season to Edwards County in Week 3.

The Marion Wildcats are regaining ground in the rankings.  Following a tumble from preseason #1 to #8 last week, an impressive 63-12 win over Granite City moved them back up to #6.

Mt. Vernon is another team finding their footing in the poll.  After dropping from preseason#4 to unranked in Week 2, heading in to Week 3 the Rams are #7 following their 52-51 shootout win at Carbondale last Friday.

#6 Marion will host #7 Mt. Vernon this week.  #9 Murphysboro hosts #1 Benton.
