MURPHYSBORO — After watching eight seniors graduate from last year’s 17-2-2 team, the Massac County Patriots admit they weren’t quite sure what to expect from this boys soccer season.
Turns out, the Patriots are pretty good, even historically good.
Alex Hall added two more goals to his single season school record (now at 42 goals) helping the Patriots beat Vienna/Goreville 2-0 in the semifinals of the Murphysboro 1A Regional for their school record 18th win of the season.
Massac County (18-2-2) advances to Saturday afternoon’s championship game against either Waterloo Gibault or Murphysboro. Those teams will play in the second semifinal Tuesday at 6:00.
Vienna/Goreville finishes the season 6-8-1.
