Here are your nominees for March 23-28:
Landen Butler, ZRC: The senior was 9-17 with 2 doubles, 6 stolen bases, 4 runs scored and 7 RBIs in 5 games. He also picked up a win on the mound against Carbondale allowing a run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 14 over 6 innings.
Taylor DeSmith, Mt. Vernon: The junior was 2-0 in the circle allowing 1 unearned run on 7 hits while striking out 19 in 12 innings of work. This included a 4-hit shutout against Olney. At the plate, DeSmith was 6-17 with a home run and 4 RBIs.
Izzy Doerr, Murphysboro: The senior scored 8 goals to help the Red Devils go 2-0 for the week. Doerr tied a school record with 6 goals in a win over Du Quoin.
Wyatt Goebel, Gallatin Co.: The sophomore was 7-8 with a walk, a double, 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs to help the Hawks go 2-1 for the week.
Kaiden Henson, Eldorado: The senior hit 2 home runs and drove in 6 runs in the Eagles’ win over Peoria Christian.
Marah Johnson, Salem: The senior was 6-10 with 3 walks, 2 doubles, 3 triples, a home run, 4 runs scored, and 4 RBIs in 4 games for the Lady Wildcats.
Andrea Kibler, Woodlawn: The junior was 4-7 with a walk, 2 home runs, 2 stolen bases, 4 runs scored, and 2 RBIs in 3 games for the Lady Cardinals.
Landyn Mitchell, Christ Our Rock Lutheran: The senior won the 60 meter hurdles (8.28) and the triple jump (46’5”) and also finished second in the long jump (23’) at the 1A Illinois Top Time Championships indoor meet in Bloomington.
Logan Moore, Johnston City: The senior tossed a 2-hit shutout while striking out 13 in a win over West Frankfort.
Macayla Nance, Anna-Jonesboro: The sophomore went 2-1 for the week in the circle, allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 24 in 19 innings of work. Nance tossed a 3-hit shutout with 7 strikeouts and went 3-5 at the plate with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs in a win over Vienna.
Caidence Phillips, Carterville: The senior went 2-0 in 3 appearances for the week, allowing 1 run on 3 hits over 16 innings while striking out 37. Phillips struck out 17 in wins over Marion and Lincoln-Way West. Sbe was 5-13 at the plate with 3 walks, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.
Emma Skeate, Marion: The sophomore won the shot put (40’1.75”) at the 2A Illinois Top Times Championships in Bloomington.
Fisher Watts, Crab Orchard: The sophomore tossed a 6-inning no-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a shutout win over NCOE. Watts was 2-7 at the plate with a walk, double, 2 runs scored and an RBI for the week.
